Our solutions can be applied to the main VMs on the market.
Recovering Virtual Machines
Virtual machines are a great ally for companies that want to expand their capacity to manage multiple operating systems, but have limited physical space. When coupled with a RAID system it becomes a highly productive tool.
VMs have the potential to transform a single physical server into multiple virtual servers, making them essential.
This productivity has caught the attention of hacker groups, who have developed ransomware specializing in encrypting virtual machines and all their files.
Data is the backbone of any business, so it needs to be available and easily accessible at all times. Given this, data loss can be the downfall of a company.
There are a number of issues that can lead to data loss in Virtual Machines, they are:
- Deletion of data
- Formatting partitions
- Corruption of information
- Overwriting information
- Formatting followed by reinstallation of systems
- Hardware malfunction
- Simultaneous failure of hard drives in Storages
Digital Recovery has placed itself in the data recovery market in order to provide solutions for data recovery in any of these scenarios.

Soon after a new wave of LockBit 2.0 ransomware attacks, many companies saw their business come to a standstill because of data locked out of encryption. Here is a case of decryption for one of them.
We received a contact from a company that said it had suffered an attack and was unable to continue its activities. When they arrived at their offices after the weekend, they realised that a large part of their data was inaccessible.
One of the largest River Logistics companies in Latin America contacted us to decrypt files after a Quantum Ransomware attack.
There has been a wave of attacks by the Quantum group targeting several different companies. Small, medium and large companies have been targeted. In this case a large Fluvial logistics company in Argentina was the victim.

Answers from our experts
Can a snapshot replace a backup?
Absolutely not, the snapshot is not a backup! We have attended many cases where the customer believed this, so it is valid to make clear what the snapshot actually is.
The snapshot is a kind of freezing of the virtual machine matrix and the creation of a new virtual machine, which will be tied to the matrix, but without using it. The new data is recorded without consuming the space and performance of the matrix virtual machine.
In these terms the snapshot may look like a backup, but in no scenario can it be used as such. It is recommended that a backup of the data is always available.
Are there any recommendations for the use of Snapshots?
Yes, there are some best practices that need to be taken into account, they are:
- Use Snapshot for maximum 72 hours, after that it is recommended that the data is consolidated on the parent virtual machine.
- The Snapshot should not be too big, its size influences the time of the data consolidation process.
- Do not have more than three Snapshots.

What you need to know
We have a thorough knowledge of the main virtual machines on the market, as well as exclusive technologies that enable us to recover data regardless of the reason for the data loss.
Our technologies allow us to recover data from the following virtual machines
- Microsoft Hyper-V
- Oracle VirtualBox
- Microsoft Virtual PC
It is not possible to establish a price without first diagnosing the affected virtual machine, we can make an in-depth diagnosis in the first 24 hours, after that we provide the budget.
It is worth remembering that payment is only made after the recovery process has been completed and after the verification of the recovered files made by the customer himself.
