It is the set of computer software programs that are responsible for managing a database.
When a data loss incident occurs involving file deletion, LUNS and partition relocation, accidental formatting or system reinstallation, there is a high risk of overwriting information and loss of partition metadata.
If the partition metadata is lost, there is no longer any possibility of files being recovered with their respective names, creation dates and exact location with the folders where they were stored.
To try to lessen the problem and impact of these losses, some advanced users and data recovery companies resort to a widely used technique known as RAW mode data recovery.
Although using this technique it is possible to recover several types of files successfully, although without names, due to the architecture of databases and the way they are written to disk, generating high levels of fragmentation, recovery in RAW mode does not work satisfactorily, because in RAW mode recovery it is possible to recover only files that were written to the disk sequentially. In case of fragmented files, this technique is completely limited.
This is exactly where Digital Recovery’s efforts to develop its own solutions make sense. After several years of study and tireless work in our laboratories in Brazil and Germany, we have developed a technology to overcome this limitation.
